For Scottsdale

Holistic therapy for Scottsdale, with Alicia or Kyla.

The Wild Within is a small holistic therapy practice in Mesa, and a lot of the people we see live a freeway away. Scottsdale clients meet with us by secure video from home, or make the drive down to the office on Brown Road, about 20 minutes from south Scottsdale and closer to half an hour from Kierland. Either way, it starts the same way, with a free 30-minute phone call to see whether the fit feels right.

Alicia Wright, LCSW

When something comes up as you talk, a tight throat or a breath you didn't know you were holding, Alicia slows down and gets curious about it with you. That's somatic therapy, and she pairs it with parts work, EMDR, couples work and ketamine-assisted psychotherapy. She's also a Tantric Embodiment Facilitator and a kundalini dance teacher, and that side of her comes into the room with her, because she sees the work as sacred.

Kyla Gordon, therapist intern at The Wild Within in Mesa, Arizona

Kyla Gordon

Kyla is finishing her Master of Social Work and sees clients under Alicia's clinical supervision for $85 a session. She's trauma-informed and practical, and a good fit for new parents, people in the middle of a big life change, and teens.

Getting here from Scottsdale

From Old Town and south Scottsdale, take the Loop 202 east to Gilbert Road and head south to Brown. From McCormick Ranch, Kierland or the Airpark, the Loop 101 south runs into the 202. The office is a quarter mile east of Gilbert Road, with easy parking and a private entrance. Drive times from Google Maps on a weekday morning:

  • McDowell & Scottsdale Rd 18 min
  • Old Town Scottsdale 22 min
  • McCormick Ranch 24 min
  • Gainey Ranch 26 min
  • Kierland Commons 30 min
  • Scottsdale Airpark 30 min
  • DC Ranch 36 min

Half an hour each way is a lot to carve out of a work week, so plenty of our Scottsdale clients do most of their sessions by video and come in when they want to be in the room. Same therapist, same work, and you can switch from week to week. If you're closer to the south side, there's also holistic therapy for Tempe, Chandler and Gilbert.

What We Work With

Holistic therapy for anxiety, trauma and relationships in Scottsdale.

See every service →

Somatic therapy

For what talking has explained but hasn't settled. The work happens through your own attention, with Alicia guiding the conversation.

Anxiety

The 3 a.m. thinking and the chest that won't unclench, worked with through the nervous system as well as the thoughts.

Couples and marriage counseling

Trust, distance, and the argument that keeps coming back. Joint sessions for Scottsdale couples by video or at the Mesa office.

Ketamine-assisted therapy

Psychotherapy with the medicine, with preparation before and integration after, and Alicia with you the whole session.

Teens and pre-teens

Anxiety, identity, friendships and growing up online. Alicia and Kyla both see younger clients.

Cost

What therapy costs, and why we don't bill insurance

Before insurance pays for a session, it needs a mental health diagnosis on your record, and then it decides how many sessions that diagnosis gets. A lot of what people bring here doesn't fit that shape: a job that's grinding you down, a marriage that's gone quiet, grief, or wanting to understand yourself at a deeper level than symptoms.

Being out of network keeps those decisions in the room. We provide superbills you can submit to a PPO for possible reimbursement, and HSA and FSA cards are accepted.

How It Works

How to get started.

You can stop at any step.

  1. 01

    A free 30-minute call

A phone call. You share what's bringing you in, we explain how we work, and you get a feel for whether it fits. If it doesn't, we'll help you find someone who does.

  2. 02

    Pick in person or online

Video from wherever you are in Arizona, or the Mesa office on E Brown Rd. Switching between the two from week to week is fine.

  3. 03

    Do the work

Weekly, every other week, or longer intensive sessions. Grounding and regulation come first, and the deeper work follows at the pace you set.

Common Questions

FAQ

Something else on your mind? Ask it on the free call, or call (480) 771-2181.

Do you have an office in Scottsdale?

No. The office is in Mesa at 2160 E Brown Rd, Suite 3, about 18 to 36 minutes from most of Scottsdale by the Loop 202 or the Loop 101. Secure telehealth is available anywhere in Arizona.

Can I see a holistic therapist from Scottsdale by telehealth?

Yes. You can have every session by secure video from home in Scottsdale and never make the drive, or switch between video and the Mesa office from week to week.

Is a holistic therapist the same as a naturopath or a holistic psychiatrist?

No. Alicia is a licensed clinical social worker, and she doesn't prescribe medication. Therapy here is conversation and body-based work: somatic therapy, parts work, EMDR and talk therapy. If you already see a doctor, psychiatrist or naturopath, therapy can run alongside that care.

Do you offer ketamine-assisted therapy for Scottsdale clients?

Yes. It starts with a free consultation and a medical screening with our collaborating physician, because not everyone is a candidate. Then come preparation sessions, the medicine sessions with Alicia present the whole time, and integration sessions after. Medicine sessions are at the Mesa office.

Do you offer couples and marriage counseling for Scottsdale couples?

Yes. Alicia is the couples therapist here. Sessions are in person at the Mesa office or by secure video anywhere in Arizona, and many couples add a few individual sessions along the way.

Can I do telehealth if I'm only in Scottsdale part of the year?

Yes, while you're in Arizona. Therapy is licensed in Arizona only, so video sessions happen while you're physically in the state. If you split the year between Scottsdale and somewhere else, bring it up on the free call and we'll plan around it.

Will insurance pay for holistic or somatic therapy?

We're out of network, so we don't bill insurance directly. We provide superbills you can submit to a PPO for possible out-of-network reimbursement, and HSA and FSA cards are accepted. Sessions range from $85 to $185 depending on which therapist you see.

Do you see teens and pre-teens from Scottsdale?

Yes. Alicia works with pre-teens and teens, and so does Kyla, at a lower rate under Alicia's clinical supervision.

Are you taking new clients?

Yes. Start with a free 30-minute phone call to see whether it's a fit before you book anything.
